The Innovation Valley Nano Alliance is expanding its focus and will hold a kick-off event Thursday to introduce what will now be known as the Innovation Valley Emerging Technologies Alliance.

The initiative brings together Technology 2020, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the University of Tennessee and the Department of Energy’s Y-12 weapons plant to promote the region’s potential as a place for technology-oriented business development.

The kick-off event for the Innovation Valley Emerging Technologies Alliance will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Tech 2020 in Oak Ridge. A networking reception will begin at 5 p.m. followed by a presentation by Mike Howard, senior vice president of research and development for the Electric Power Research Institute. Meetings for the alliance will now be held the second Thursday of each month from 5-7 p.m. at Tech 2020.
